Senior Mobile Architect

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mobile Architect to define and govern the end‑to‑end mobile architecture for iOS and Android apps for Goodyear’s Proactive Solutions, built on the Fleethub AWS backend. You’ll establish patterns and standards, enable performance, security, and reliability at scale, and ensure the apps are automation‑friendly and aligned with the broader cloud and application architecture.

You will partner closely with Senior AWS Cloud Architect, Senior AWS Application Development Architect, DevSecOps, QA, and guide Senior iOS/Android Engineers in delivering cohesive, secure, and maintainable mobile solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Mobile Architecture & Standards

• Define platform‑wide architecture patterns ( MVVM/Clean, modularization, sync/conflict resolution ).
• Establish standards for networking, caching, resiliency, security, and observability across iOS and Android.
• Align mobile architecture with AWS platform capabilities and API design ; influence API contracts for efficiency and resilience.

Solution Design & Enablement

• Ensure mobile solutions are test‑automation friendly ( stable IDs, hooks, deterministic stat e).
• Enable high‑quality CI/CD for mobile ( Fastlane/Bitrise, code signing, versioning, release trains ).
• Drive performance, accessibility, and UX consistency in collaboration with Web and Product.

Security, Quality & Reliability

• Champion OWASP MASVS and enterprise security controls (Keychain/Keystore, secure storage, cert pinning, OIDC/OAuth2).
• Define SLIs/SLOs for mobile (crash‑free rate, cold start, frame rendering, ANR) and observability (Crashlytics, analytics).
• Ensure full support, high availability and business continuity for the business-critical existing landscape and mobile applications

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide architectural leadership to Senior iOS and Senior Android Engineers, and broader mobile team.
• Review designs/PRs, lead architecture reviews, and guide modernization/refactoring initiatives.
• Run POCs and technology evaluations; create reference apps/modules and documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Deep hands‑on expertise with Swift and Kotlin/Java ; proven design of enterprise mobile architectures at scale.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, auth (OAuth2/OIDC), offline sync, performance tuning, and accessibility .
• Demonstrated experience with mobile CI/CD, code signing, release automation, and store distribution (TestFlight, Play Console) .
• Familiar with QA automation approaches (XCUITest, Espresso), integration in pipelines, and quality gates .
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross‑team leadershi p.

Preferred Qualifications

• SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose; modern state management (Combine/Flow).
• Feature flags, remote config, analytics, experimentation.
• Experience with secure coding reviews and threat modelling for mobile.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s/master’s in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• 8+ years total experience with 4+ years in mobile engineering and architecture.
