Software Engineer III - Test Automation Engineer

Leverage testing expertise to automate and design innovative test procedures, enhancing quality assurance through creative solutions and AI capabilities.

As a Software Engineer III - Test Automation Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, your goal is to ensure that our applications work as they should and meet customers' needs. You'll draw on your testing knowledge and creativity to automate test capabilities and design test and maintenance procedures. You'll also tap our existing test frameworks to tackle specific problems. We take a collaborative approach to quality, which means you'll work with experienced developers, managers and business partners across the organization.

Job responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web, backend, and API applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and business teams to understand application requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Develop and maintain documentation for automation scripts, frameworks, and processes.
• Work closely with Developers, Business Analysts, and Product teams to identify and address bugs and inconsistencies in software.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong multitasking abilities.
• Be proactive and able to handle multiple priorities and tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Participate and contribute in Agile ceremonies.
• Foster a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
• Utilize tools such as Eclipse IDE, IntelliJ, Maven, Jenkins, and similar platforms.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
• Proven ability to write automated tests in Java/ TypeScript/ Python using Playwright, Selenium
• Good understanding of Object Repositories, XPATHs etc and Working knowledge of using Databases
• Expertise in at least one programming language : Java or Python or TypeScript
• Expertise in JIRA and ALM Tools like QTEST
• Should have knowledge of automation framework integration with CI/ CD Tools like Jenkins
• Detailed understanding of common defect and data-management tools
• Advanced knowledge of software lifecycles, including Waterfall and Agile, and test automation strategies
• Experience working effectively with teams and stakeholders to develop relationships and achieve common goals
• Proficiency in a business function and some understanding of the broader business context
• Experience in designing and working with automation frameworks and using AI tools for faster and smarter delivery.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Knowledge of Cloud Computing
• Knowledge of working with AI/ ML/ Data Science/ NLP
• Experience of working in Banking domain will be added advantage
