Req ID: 56352 Location: Bangalore, IN Senior QA Automation Developer
Sapiens Marketing Material
Description
The Senior QA Automation Developer validates business and system changes across insurance applications through robust test automation, strong requirement interpretation, and reliable defect diagnosis. The role requires expertise in automation design, script and framework development, end-to-end scenario execution, failure analysis, and defect lifecycle management, and is suited to a hands-on senior quality professional who can translate requirements into scalable, maintainable automated coverage, identify risks early, and improve product quality and engineering efficiency using Agile ways of working, automation frameworks, CI/CD practices, and AI-augmented tools.
Role and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test scenarios for complex business flows, integrations, and system changes across insurance applications.
- Own automation coverage for assigned modules or workstreams, translating business requirements, architecture flows, APIs, and system behaviour into scalable coverage across functional, regression, integration, sanity, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Improve automation frameworks, reusable components, coding standards, and execution patterns to increase maintainability, reliability, and reuse.
- Execute automated suites, analyse failures, and distinguish product defects from script, environment, data, or pipeline issues; document defects with sufficient technical depth to support triage, root cause analysis, and retesting.
- Build and maintain automation scripts using approved tools and languages; perform API automation and SQL-based backend validation to verify transaction outcomes and downstream impacts.
- Integrate and optimize automated test execution within CI/CD pipelines to improve execution efficiency, stability, and turnaround time.
- Participate in requirement reviews, sprint ceremonies, and issue-resolution discussions to ensure requirements are testable and automation scope is identified early.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, architects, product owners, and QA peers to improve testability, automation coverage, and overall product quality.
- Review automation code, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement in automation, test data handling, quality gates, and version control discipline within Agile delivery models.
Must Have Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Background
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in automation testing and system testing of enterprise applications.
- Experience across complex web-based, client-server, and multi-tier applications with end-to-end business process validation.
- Experience in insurance products or insurance technology platforms preferred; life, pension, annuity, claims, billing, digital, or broader policy-processing exposure is valuable.
- Exposure to Agile or iterative delivery environments, with experience owning complex automation execution and applying QA analysis to validate change impact, risks, and coverage quality.
Technical & Functional Skills
- Strong automation testing fundamentals across framework design or enhancement, script development, regression automation, integration testing, API automation, and end-to-end execution.
- Experience with automation tools Selenium and hands-on knowledge of Java.
- Ability to interpret business requirements and convert them into scalable, risk-aware automation coverage, with strong understanding of functional, regression, integration, API, and system testing.
- Experience with SOAP and REST API testing, strong SQL for backend validation, and the ability to analyse transaction outcomes and downstream impacts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and build pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent, along with version control practices and repositories such as Git.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to debug automation failures, distinguish environmental noise from product issues, and assess maintainability, reusability, and long-term suite health.
AI-Related Expectations
- Use AI tools to generate or refine functional, edge-case, and negative scenarios for automation coverage.
- Use AI support for test data ideas, SQL/query drafting, automation scaffolding, log interpretation, and early defect analysis where appropriate.
- Use AI tools in automation scripting to the extent possible.
- Review and harden AI-generated automation outputs by improving assertions, locators, waits, modularity, and reuse before incorporating them into stable suites.
- Maintain reusable prompting patterns, validation discipline, and responsible AI usage practices that improve team consistency without compromising quality.
- Validate AI-generated outputs for correctness, hallucination risk, technical fit, domain alignment, and business-rule accuracy before use.
- Follow approved privacy, security, and responsible-AI guidelines in all AI-assisted QA activities.
SaaS & Cloud Awareness
- Understanding of environment-based testing across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production-like setups.
- Awareness of SaaS delivery concepts such as configuration-driven change, release cadence, integration dependencies, and multi-environment validation.
- Familiarity with how cloud-hosted applications, containerized environments, and pipeline-driven releases can affect automation design, test planning, and execution reliability.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain automation coverage, execution risks, framework decisions, and defect patterns clearly and work effectively with business, product, development, and architecture stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
- Strong documentation discipline and the ability to communicate defects, risks, and quality insights with clarity, while mentoring junior engineers and influencing better automation practices without formal authority.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Personal Attributes
- Strong ownership mindset for assigned features, automation suites, and quality outcomes.
- Detail-oriented, disciplined, dependable, curious, and structured in problem-solving.
- Proactive and collaborative, with a learning mindset, credibility to guide others, and the ability to balance rigor, speed, and practicality in a delivery environment.
Preferred / Good to Have
- Exposure to ETL or backend-heavy validation scenarios and CI/CD-integrated regression suites at scale.
- Testing certifications such as ISTQB or equivalent and insurance certifications such as LOMA or similar are an advantage.
- Willingness to work with distributed teams and support implementation or release needs across time zones when required.
Why Join Us:
- Work on business-critical insurance platforms where automation directly improves release speed, quality, and delivery confidence.
- Build depth across automation engineering, framework design, API validation, CI/CD integration, backend validation, and SaaS-aware quality practices in an environment actively incorporating AI-assisted, automation-led quality engineering. About Sapiens
