Job Description

Role Purpose

The Engineering Operations Manager plays a critical role in enabling Johnson Controls’ Digital org manage the vendor and finance related engineering operations in a smooth way bringing in efficiencies, cost savings and compliance. This role is responsible for managing the vendor resources, resource models, oversight of the budget, bring in efficiencies, align Engineering budget in Planview to meet capital targets and data management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Vendor Resources Management

  • Be on top of all the Vendor resource agreements for the entire Digital org
  • Partner with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and Engineering Leadership to continue looking for optimization and cost reduction opportunities
  • Expedite the new requirements from Engineering for vendor resources by bringing in faster onboarding processes
  • Align with Finance team for budget planning and consumption tracking
  • Ensure that the invoices are hit at the right time avoiding spill over – quarter on quarter

Plan view administration

  • Understand the plan view usage and align with the wider objectives for capital appropriation
  • Assist Engineering and product teams to maintain the plan view data and have all the resources timely fill in the timesheets
  • Track for approvals and closure monthly for the data to go in the finance books to be capitalized
  • Assist in creating / updating SKUs and resources in Planview and

Data, Metrics & Innovation

  • Start bringing up innovative ideas for managing the vendor resources and plan-view in a smooth way
  • Learn and use Co-Pilot Studio to bring in automation in some of the manual tasks on an ongoing basis
  • Keep sending reminders to the Engineering / Product / Finance stakeholders for the upcoming contract end and ensure smooth de-boarding of the vendor resources

List of activities / work to be performed for this role

  • Be a single point of contact for raising PRs and other related requests in different tools for vendor resources management and other related work in Digital org
  • Follow up on getting these approved and get the PO raised
  • Manage the SoWs for vendor engagements and bring in innovation in it to have JCI cover up all the risks
  • Administer, configure, and support Planview, and JIRA to ensure optimal performance and user satisfaction.
  • Collect and coordinate business requirements for analytical reporting.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement analytics and performance tracking tools.
  • Prepare standard reports for key stakeholders and document areas for improvement.
  • Monitor the performance of reports and dashboards, complete data validation, and resolve data integrity issues.
  • Provide user support through training and query resolution to ensure effective usage of the tools.
  • Assess current reporting activities and develop robust solutions to automate and optimize processes.
  • Ensure appropriate security measures are adhered to within all tools.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Lead data quality initiatives within all tools.
  • Filter and clean data, locate and correct code problems.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Review ad-hoc vs. standard management reporting processes to determine when repetitive ad-hoc requests should be included as standard reporting.
  • Perform various ad-hoc assignments as needed.
  • Provision licenses and provide user access based on business needs.
  • Ensure permission control within all tools.
  • Support issue resolution with end users and assist with submitting and tracking remediation of support tickets.
  • Liaise with IT and other partners as needed
  • Responsible for data quality checks and analysis.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 8–10+ years of experience in IT delivery, vendor management, commercial management, or transformation roles.
  • Experience transitioning from project‑based to product‑based or Agile delivery models.
  • Strong understanding of product operating models, Agile principles, and value streams.
