Senior Database Developer

POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a skilled Senior Database Developer to design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions that underpin our enterprise data platform. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in SQL, database architecture, stored procedures, performance tuning, and cloud-hosted databases, and is ready to take ownership of complex deliverables while contributing to team standards and best practices. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES* Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL stored procedures, functions, views, and triggers across relational database platforms.

• Develop and optimize database schemas, data models, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data transformation logic within the database layer.
• Implement and maintain reporting-ready views and aggregation layers to support Power BI and analytics consumption.
• Perform query optimization, execution plan analysis, and performance tuning for large-scale datasets.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, referential integrity, and security across all database environments.
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and analysts to deliver reliable and scalable database solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to database development standards and best practices.
• Support database deployment activities across DEV, QA, and Production environments.
• Assist in database migration, upgrade, and cloud transition projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues including deadlocks, blocking, and data inconsistencies.
• Maintain technical documentation for database objects, schemas, and data dictionaries.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.

• 4–7 years of hands-on experience in database development using SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent.
• Advanced proficiency in T-SQL / PL-SQL — stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, and CTEs.
• Strong experience in data modelling — conceptual, logical, and physical modelling techniques.
• Proficiency in query optimization, execution plan analysis, and index design.
• Experience with ETL/ELT development — SSIS, ADF, or SQL-based transformation pipelines.
• Solid understanding of database normalization, schema design, and relational database concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud-hosted databases — Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or equivalent.
• Experience with version control (Git / Azure DevOps) and database CI/CD practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to data quality and accuracy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Experience with columnar or analytical databases — Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or Redshift.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases — Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or equivalent.
• Exposure to data warehousing concepts — star schema, snowflake schema, slowly changing dimensions (SCD).
• Knowledge of Power BI data modelling and DAX for reporting layer development.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory or SSIS for pipeline development.
• Cloud certification from Azure, AWS, or GCP (data or database track).
• Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and observability frameworks.
