Application Development Advisor – Production Support

Position Overview

Are you looking for an opportunity to engineer support modern application, Continuous Deployment/Continuous Integration, and embedded solutions(UI Development/Claim Engine processing/Backend development/AI Integrations) across a breadth of core platforms and technologies and foster a community while being supported with plentiful training and mentorship opportunities?

We’re looking for an application development advisor who will be responsible for managing a production support engineering team while enriching an embedded solution Practice within Core Tech Engg Solutions (CTES) to accelerate us on embedded solution(UI Development/Claim Engine processing/Backend development/AI Integrations) journey for claim platforms by reengineering current state legacy systems. The journey requires building foundational capabilities/patterns and enabling teams from a design, technical architecture and selecting cloud services wisely. This role requires proved technology excellence with strong hands-on digital experience. While this role needs an individual who can be a first responder and help resolving the issues that are raised in the production environment and take care of resolutions withing Cigna defined SLAs on each of the applications

Responsibilities

Being a production support application development advisor, we are looking for a leader who can be in charge of below responsibilities.

  • Owns technical health, stability, and performance of production systems across the portfolio.
  • Maintains deep understanding of application architecture, code paths, integrations, and data flows.
  • Ensures systems are operable, supportable, and resilient in high‑availability environments.
  • Acts as the technical authority for production behavior, defects, and fixes
  • Leads technical triage and resolution of complex production issues, including P1/P2 incidents.
  • Drives hands‑on investigation for issues involving:
  • Distributed systems
  • APIs and integrations
  • Cloud and platform dependencies
  • Data and batch processing failures
  • Owns Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and ensures permanent fixes are identified and implemented.
  • Chairs or actively leadspost‑incident reviews / postmortems for high‑severity incidents.
  • Leads teams ofsoftware engineers and analysts providing L2/L3 production support.
  • Ensures issues requiringcode changes, configuration fixes, or data corrections are handled efficiently
  • Partners with Development teams to:
  • Review defect patterns
  • Reduce repeat incidents
  • Improve code quality and observability
  • Balanceshands‑on technical work with managerial oversight.
  • Owns production monitoring strategy using tools such as application logs, metrics, and alerts.
  • Ensures proactive detection of issues through:
  • Log analysis
  • Performance monitoring
  • Trend and anomaly analysis
  • Reviews production tickets daily and reports incident trends to senior leadership with actionable insights.
  • Ensures production readiness for releases by:
  • Assessing technical risk
  • Reviewing backward compatibility and rollback strategies
  • Validating monitoring and alerting coverage
  • Partners with DevOps and Delivery teams during deployments and post‑release monitoring.
  • Ensures the support team understandsimpact of changes introduced into production.
  • Identifiessystemic weaknesses and drives engineering improvements to reduce operational risk.
  • Uses incident data and trends to guidearchitectural and design improvements.
  • Manages performance, growth, and career development of engineers in production support.
  • Buildsstrong on‑call and support engineering culture focused on ownership and accountability.
  • Provides coaching during high‑pressure production scenarios.
  • Defines and tracksoperational KPIs (incident trends, MTTR, repeat defects).
  • Ensures alignment with enterpriseITSM, compliance, and audit standards.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or Engineering or related course work
  • Should carry Subject matter expertise level of knowledge in US Healthcare Commanding knowledge in the claim engine applications
  • Should carry Subject matter expertise in Facets (Frontend Backend) Application
  • Have 14 or above years of experience in production support project management (Strictly Handson)
  • 14 years or above experience in “facets” claim engine related applications (Extensions, reports, ClaimXten, NetworX pricing)
  • 14 or above years of experience in .NET full stack programing, API and UI development.
  • Experience working with Oracle/SQL Server/Sybase SQL PLSQL programming. Should be an expert in performance optimization strategies
  • Experience working in UI development using Angular Node.Js
  • Experience in using IDE like Visual Studio Code, VS Code Etc
  • Experience in developing backends using NODE.JS
  • Experience in developing Automation Applications using Python PERL
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms like AWS/Azure/Google cloud
  • Knowledge of API tools like Postman, SoapUI, etc.
  • Experience with LLM methods which can be integrated with UIs to generate recommendations based on standard operation procedures we fed to the system.
  • Experience in business requirement analysis, test design, defect logging and tracking
  • Experience in Git based source control tools like GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environment along with tools like Jira, Rally, etc.
  • Experience in Monitoring tools like Splunk, Dynatrace
  • Experience in incident management using servicenow. Should be well versed with incident handling (M1/M2/M3/P1/P2/P3) capable of running Operation command center call with multiple stake holders.

Required Experience Education:

  • Proven experience with design, development support of large-scale enterprise application solutions.
  • Proven leadership abilities in handling critical sensitive operations in production environment.
  • College degree (Bachelor) in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert level experience in managing production support team of size 10 with multiple applications handled in the team
  • More than 14 years of experience in Software engineering
  • Hands on experience engineering/developing modern on-prem/public .Net, Vue.JS, Node.Js, Python, Perl. Exposure to AWS solutions/LLM models will be advantageous.
  • Willing to learn, go above and beyond attitudes.
  • Experience with modern and legacy development languages.
  • Exceptional ability to think on strategic fix, automations wherever possible, AI infused solutions to fasten the existing approach.
  • Flexibility to be available for any sudden issue that impacts system availability and making sure to lead the team until conclusions are planned executed.

Desired Experience:

  • Exposure to Cloud technology like AWS/Azure
  • Exposure Flexibility to learn latest AI/ML technologies
  • Proficiency with the applications built on mainframes (COBOL), IMS, DB2
